A Connection That Moved Me

This wkend, a young man, Mario with Safelite Autoglass repaired my windshield & provided top quality service. I learned he just turned 20 & is DREAMER who came to the US when he was 6 months old. His father was a dreamer too, having been brought with his family at 10 yrs old and also worked for Safelite for many years. Mario proudly shared, "Some of the guys my dad trained are now managers. I didn't intend to follow in his footsteps, but I learned all there is to know about auto glass installation and repair from him and this is a great company to work for because they provide many opportunities for advancement within the company." I thanked Mario for his great service and for sharing a bit of his story with me. I was sharing my anger about the end of #DACA, he reached for his wallet and pulled out his USA Employment Authorization card and said how thankful he was to have his current job because the card had just expired. He showed me an email he received on September 5th that stated "All those with current DACA status will keep their status for the remainder of the validity period." I am grateful to have met Mario and be reminded how important it is to defend DACA. WE MUST #STANDUP AND FIGHT FOR PEOPLE WHO OUR COUNTRY HAS PROSPERED FROM YET MARGINALIZES THEIR RIGHTS & VOICES.
